I am a proud Lancastrian, especially proud to be part of such a fabulous and diverse community with a strong tradition of hard work, industrial innovation and care for each other. I live in Lancashire with my family.
I have worked tirelessly in education throughout my career, ensuring that education is inclusive, allowing participants to fulfil their potential and support the local community with skills for financial sustainability.
My Grandad Bill is a huge inspiration for life and career. Born in Preston and an apprentice moulder at Leyland Motors with a passion for education to fundamentally change lives, he humbly achieved so much for his family and the communities of South Ribble and beyond. He set up a foundry in Channai which now employs 40,000 people and supports the economic well-being of that region to this day.
Over the past ten years, I have been an interim senior leader in further education and skills, driving quality and ensuring learning is accessible. I am particularly interested in Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, especially around mental health and well-being. I am also an advocate for those who lack a voice , especially the youth.
I am excited to join the Board of NCompass as I share its values and raison d’etre. I have long experience of reporting to Board and have been a trustee on three previous occasions. NCompass is fundamentally worthwhile and I look forward to providing strategic oversight and governance to the senior team and working closely with my fellow trustees.
