Originally from Lancashire I spent my working life in London and the South East. For over thirty five years I worked in the National Health Service and Academia. I am passionate about people and working with organisations that are focused on ensuring every member of the team, paid or voluntary, achieve their full potential.
Having held a variety of roles in General Management, in the Acute Health Care Sector, I retrained in 1987 as an HR professional , and held a variety of HR Director roles in the Mental Health and Community Health Sectors. In 2000 I completed a Masters Degree in HR Management and shortly after became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Following an NHS reorganisation in 2000, I joined The Institute of Cancer Research (London), a College of the University of London as the HR Director and in 2010 I became the Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for all Corporate Services. This included Information Technology, Estates and Facilities, Finance, HR, Fundraising and Communications and Academic support.
In 2016 I left the South East to relocate back to Lancashire and now live in Preston. In addition to the Chair of n-compass I hold a number of other roles. I am a Trustee of the National Cancer Research Institute, a partnership organisation for Cancer Research Charities, which aims to ensure the most effective use of research funds. I am also an Independent Member of the Audit Committee of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, in addition to part time employment as a Marriage Registrar for Lancashire County Council.
